People keep getting at me my whole life for my dad being fat because my mom isn't White, too.  If I "make it" it's just because I'm different for my race but maybe also my dad's fault who is White.  Even if I'm skinny, it's not that impressive.

Moreover, the phrase "in and of itself" is not negative. Americans just make it that way. They used to curse all the time. I know another excuse, there were other noises, I believe, that hurt me in my ear and I couldn't think in college already and I flunked. I did get my grades withdrawn, but my mom did it. Here I am panicking having to go to work without a car...! They don't do anything about it, they're "helpless."
